shrouded mother gods (amber fat, ivy fat)—a tilt—
iris (cough), oat (hunt), lupine (hurt)—solo: soft melody
of touch to churn cunt (oh red area)—ovary ode / star
verse—augur says boyruin / bootlust—inlay (doe
effigy or mature buck, bone / steel)—
imperfect boyhoods—rib, ulna, serenity
of punched tit—a mere ache—fence / banquet / acid sea—
juicy orgy union (i was ouch / tuft)—
lechery: ostentatious berry gush—i sorrow—
i glumly syrup—i mauve frothy—i eat eye / root—
body without ego cult—oh to alloy / twin
myself—poor reconfigurations—folded
mothwing—labial hit—hot guise to awe—
i loam or bell, ritually prone—bluest ewe.



Note by the Author on the Construction of the Text:
These poems, what I call “divinations,” were created using an online anagramming tool and the source text of Shakespeare’s sonnets. The rule I set for myself was that I had to anagram line-by-line, so each line of the divination has the same letters in a one-to-one relationship as the corresponding line in the Shakespearean sonnet.

They hold an MFA from the University of Minnesota and live in Manhattan with their husband.



Vinna Begin is an artist born in West Java, Indonesia and based in Montréal, Canada. Begin earned a BA from Bandung Institute of Technology in Bandung, Indonesia and an MFA from the Academy of Arts University in San Francisco, California. Her work has been exhibited globally, including exhibitions in New York City, San Francisco, Montréal, and Seoul. More of Begin’s work can be viewed on her Instagram and website.
