A Mundane Hideout

from the day
a frayed rug
a window fan
papers lying around
books in disarray
on the shelves
a crocodile pipe
to your lips
your beautiful lips
opening with mine
like a mammal
from the sea

Matthew Rohrer attended universities in Ann Arbor, Dublin and Iowa City. He teaches poetry at NYU. These poems are from his forthcoming book THE SKY CONTAINS THE PLANS (Wave Books).



Lindsay Iredale was born and raised outside of Portland, Oregon. She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. In 2014 she received her BFA in Printmaking with a concentration in Book Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. Her most commonly used mediums include silkscreen, acrylic paint and paper. Her studies in Japanese language and culture heavily influence her work. In 2013, Lindsay spent 7 months in Japan studying Japanese language and culture at both Osaka Gakuin University and Osaka University of Arts including traditional Japanese crafts such as printmaking and papermaking. Following graduation she worked as a production assistant for Japanese painter Takashi Murakami. She is part of a studio called Vega Collective (instagram @vegaartists) which recently exhibited at Bushwick Open Studios. Her work is currently featured in the group show "Small and Smaller" juried by Heather Bhandari at Site:Brooklyn Gallery.
